In Rome, the annual event that presented the 2019 production of the most important Italian wineries.
Also this year Luca Maroni has realized his event dedicated to Italian wines in the fascinating location of the Hall of Fountains in the EUR. Four evenings (Feb 14th – 17th) dedicated mainly to the tasting of over 700 labels proposed by 140 manufacturers.
In addition, thematic workshops, guided tastings, and events related to the world of wine have framed the exhibition aspect. This year, it has been also possible (but only for a few) to participate in some dinners in the company of Luca Maroni itself, to enjoy particular combinations of wines and refined dishes proposed in collaboration with the Chef of Palombini Parties. As usual , the first evening of Thursday was dedicated to the award ceremony of the best wines.
Speaking about habits (Check last year Article), also this year iBESTmag was present, because such a demonstration certainly can not escape those who par excellence. In fact, the Best Wines is a unique opportunity to meet a large number of companies at the top of our wine production, and an even larger number of labels, a symptom of the great variety that characterizes the Italian territory.
Great classics and “theme variations” follow one another on the tasting tables, and every now and then there are some gems, some particular innovations that are noticed and remembered.
In addition to the wine offer, there was the opportunity to taste fine cheeses and other products such as preserves, EVO oil and jams from some Lazio producers and neighboring regions.
When you participate in a similar event, even for work, you can not help but be selective and follow their tastes and trends in the tastings, so as always we will only point out some labels that, at least in our opinion , worth a try.
Our Favorite ones
This time, for example, we are mainly dedicated to some types of red, and among these we particularly liked the Ribollito and the Dragon in Florence, proposed by the Tuscan company “Il Dragone e la Fornace” (First Image), Amarone della Valpolicella Tenuta Cajo from “Ca ‘Botta“, Il Sigillo – Aglianico 2012 from “Cantine del Nortaio” and finally the Roma Rosso DOC by “Federici“.
As for the whites we point out the Verdicchio Stefano Antonucci of “Santa Barbara“, the Costa d’Amalfi by”Marisa Cuomo” and the Mater Divini Amoris of “Capizzucchi“.
Finally, an excellent sweet wine proved to be the Aleatico Passito 469 by “Il Ponte“.
As for the cheeses, the variety and quality of the products from “Fattoria Radichino” and “Falcucci Riggi” were truly remarkable.
For those wishing to know more, the advice is (apart from consulting the appropriate website) to not miss the next edition ….. even if a year is still long to pass! 😉
