In this exclusive hotel in Rio, overlooking the beach, we find the hand of Philippe Starck, already known to our readers for a recently published hotel in Venice.
The Fasano, in fact, is a happy marriage between the style of the famous French designer and the Italian taste of the family that gives its name to one of the most important hotel chains in Brazil, as well as being well known in the restaurant industry.
What characterizes the atmosphere of this hotel is a certain degree of “understatement”: here in fact, luxury is real but never “exhibited” as if it were a trophy. Even the external appearance is that of a “normal” palace with certainly modern lines but which, so to speak, do not completely reveal the refined and elegant soul contained within it.
The vintage interior design, wanted by Phlippe Starck and Rogerio Fasano is based on elements of great value (for example, white marble from Greece, onyx from China) aimed at constantly evoking the fabulous times of Bossa Nova, the period between the 50s – ‘ 60 in which the myth of Ipanema was born, also celebrated by the famous song (Garota de Ipanema) by Vinícius de Moraes and Antônio Carlos Jobim, which we mentioned in the title of this article.
And what better, to admire the famous beach? A beautiful infinity pool in the hotel’s rooftop, from which you can admire the sunrise with the backdrop of the Arpoador or the Dois Irmãos (twin mountains) up to the Corcovado. Here of course, you can spend a lot of time, even forgetting to go to the beach, sunbathing and tasting the many cocktails from the well-stocked list available. If you want to drink something inside, there is the London Baretto … with a very special atmosphere.
As for gastronomy, the Fasano al Mare restaurant does not need any introduction for anyone who knows Rio de Janeiro and is therefore a guarantee of the highest quality for hotel guests.
The quality level is equally high (obviously) even in the 90+ rooms and suites, of which about half with the Ocean view. And there can not miss, of course, the spa, sauna and fitness center.
