The VII edition of Nebbiolo nel Cuore, organized by Riserva Grande, brought 46 producers of the prince of Italian vines to Rome.
Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero … different ways to say Nebbiolo. A grape variety as well known as loved all over the world and, as our readers well know, even from us who on similar occasions, feel a bit like Uncle Scrooge when he was in his deposit of gold coins. And how can you not feel happy when you have hundreds of labels from great producers of your favorite wines?
In fact, representatives of all the (few) production areas were present: from Upper Piedmont to the Langhe, from Monferrato to Valtellina. As evidence of the very close link between this grape variety and the territory that identifies it and which in turn identifies itself.
And so, as always in an absolutely random way, we dedicated ourselves to tasting, asking the individual producers to present us only one wine among those available, which in some way could represent their production reality.
We have therefore tasted almost twenty of them and never as in this case, have we been able to ascertain how high the level was. So much so that we decided not to use our usual assessments … The qualitative differences were in fact so subtle that they were perceivable only by specialists (such as we are not) but certainly not by simple enthusiasts.
Everyone could certainly like a certain “nuance” of a single wine instead of another … but making a judgment / ranking of value would have seemed almost wrong to each of those splendid bottles
We will therefore simply list the wines we tasted, assuring our readers that, in any case, they can be on the safe side, should they want to taste or buy them.
