Great Burgundy and Champagne wines presented by deGustate – A Catalog to drink, in the event held at the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora.
During the last February and precisely 15th to 17th, an interesting event proposed by deGustate was held in Rome, in the evocative setting of the Rooftop of the Rome Marriott Grand Hotel Flora, which wanted to present its prestigious catalog of labels, mainly French, but with some notable “local” insertion.
We know we are very late (and we apologize for it) in reporting this event to our readers, but the dramatic events known to everyone, which are upsetting the world, have also created organizational problems for us that we are trying to solve.
So let’s briefly tell you what we could taste during this event.
As already pointed out, most of the exhibition was dedicated to Burgundy and Champagne wines. An opportunity not to be missed therefore to be able to taste labels selected by deGustate “as authentic and faithful expressions of the respective territories of origin”.
We decided to taste mainly some Burgundy reds, some Champagne and the wines of a couple of Italian producers.
Definitely high general level, with some evidence (always in our humble opinion) such as the wines of Domaine Heitz – Lochardet, Domaine Bruno Clavelier and Domaine Robert Chevillon among the Burgundies.
Among the Champagnes we point out the Domaine Pernet & Pernet and Domaine Alaine Leboeuf.
Two more words about two Italian producers: Giacomo Fenocchio (Monforte d’Alba) and Paride Iaretti (Gattinara). It is known that we are particularly fond of Nebbiolo wines and Piedmont reds in general, but we cannot avoid (without fear of being denied) from emphasizing that the labels of these two producers were perfectly up to the best “Bourgogne” present.
A praise therefore goes to the organization for having proposed such a high level selection.
