By Spirit of Scotland.
Another important event in the prestigious setting of the Salone delle Fontane in Rome. This time the undisputed protagonist was the Whisky (or Whiskey as they call it in Ireland and U.S.A. ). The Rome Whisky Festival 2018 by Spirit of Scotland was staged on March 3rd and 4th.
A world, that of whisky in Italy that, at least as far as we could see during the festival, seems to be a real lifestyle. A rather young audience, a look towards the hipsters and considerable expertise, seemed to define a phenomenon that characterizes a real trend. On the other hand, the same numbers of an event that has counted more than 50 exhibitors from all over the world, for a total of about 1500 labels we think can perfectly reflect the importance of the phenomenon.
Two days of tastings flanked by countless master classes and seminars dedicated to the most diverse realities have therefore given to fans of Rome and surroundings the opportunity to savor, compare, learn and deepen all that concerns the whiskey, with some digression even in the mixology sectors, finger food and some other distillate. Naturally, there was no shortage of the “best” awards in the various production sectors.
We at iBESTmag this time, while loving whisky (check our article about Single Malt) we are not even remotely dreamed of tasting any. It would have made no sense, for the purposes of this article, to taste 10/20 or even 50 labels compared to the 1500 present … and then we would not have been able to complete a decent photo shoot. On the other hand, let us say that we have limited ourselves (so to speak) to document as much as possible the enormous variety of the proposal. A documentation useful more than anything else for those who have not been able to intervene or for the less experienced, to give an idea of the variegated world of whisky.
The packaging, the design of labels and bottles are fascinating themselves but, in each of those bottles there is a story. A fascinating story, made of different ingredients, traditions or innovations in the production typologies, of differences in aging, of geographical and cultural origins. So we decided to dedicate a large photo gallery to this festival, to tell those who still do not know it, that Whisky is “Beautiful” even just to watch. Then, how can you not get excited and want to know more?
